100 Billion Naira: Are You Kidding Me? By Kola Olaniran

The recklessness with which the regime of Major General Muhammadu Buhari dipped its hand into the Nigerian treasury to dish out 100 Billion Naira to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association is so appalling that Nigerians are beginning to question the rationale behind the gift. The sudden elevation of the traders association to socio-cultural organization leaves a sour taste in one’s mouth. How on earth would a few people arrogantly dish out such humongous amount of money to a traders association without the approval of the National Assembly?  It was reported that leaders of the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders demanded for 160 billion Naira for peace to reign in Nigeria but received 100 billion after negotiations. This 100 billion Naira was more than the Ekiti State budget for that year. Shortly after this offer was made, We have witnessed the influx of herdsmen into every nook and cranny of the country, resulting in banditry and kidnapping with innocent women and children being ra

đź”»SERIKI’S PALACE BURNT DOWN The tension-soaked area of Oke Ogun in Oyo State where Hausa Fulani herdsmen have bivouacked may become a battlefield if the grievances of the residents are not addressed. Sunday Adeyemo, a Yoruba warrior popularly known as Sunday Igboho who had earlier met Alaafin to register his displeasure over the nefarious activities of the herdsmen also met the seriki Fulani of the area and gave him and his people a seven day ultimatum to vacate Yoruba land. Residents of the area and indeed the entire South Western region are not feeling secure as these herdsmen prowl around brandishing sophisticated weapons with impunity. Indigenes who have been having their deep shuteye in the night can no longer do so as they find it difficult to predict the next move of these marauders. The latest report has also shown that the palace of the Seriki Fulani has been burnt down.

Armed Robber Who Operates with the “Fear Of God” By Kola Ola Olaniran

Image
Ipetumodu, Osun State, Nigeria: Weird but true, the antithetical sophistry of a message emblazoned on the T-shirt of this armed robber is enough to send someone crashing on the floor asking a rhetorical question, “what is this world turning to”? until one gains his balance. Some people practice what they preach while this armed robber is one of those who breach what they preach. He was apprehended last year (2020) by members of the vigilante group while trying to wreak havoc in the peace-loving city of Ipetumodu in Osun State. His mission was not to pray for the people but to prey on them.

The Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over the spate of insecurity in the country. Here’s the letter: AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI BY THE ALAAFIN OF OYO, OBA LAMIDI OLAYIWOLA ADEYEMI III *Yoruba Question in Nigeria Conundrum*  Your Excellency,  I have never been timid or shy of my total support for the success of your administration to deliver the country to the Promised Land. My confidence had always been based on Your Excellency’s ability, fitness and competence in leading the country to the Promised Land, where Law and Order prevail, individual liberty is guaranteed, economic well-being of the citizens is assured.  That my confidence in Your Excellency remains unshaken to date. In recent time however, I am worried about the security situation in the country, especially in the South West geo-political zone, nay the entire Yoruba-speaking area of the country including Kwara, Kogi and Edo states. This has to do w
