100 Billion Naira: Are You Kidding Me? By Kola Olaniran

 The recklessness with which the regime of Major General Muhammadu Buhari dipped its hand into the Nigerian treasury to dish out 100 Billion Naira to the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association is so appalling that Nigerians are beginning to question the rationale behind the gift.




The sudden elevation of the traders association to socio-cultural organization leaves a sour taste in one’s mouth.


How on earth would a few people arrogantly dish out such humongous amount of money to a traders association without the approval of the National Assembly? 


It was reported that leaders of the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders demanded for 160 billion Naira for peace to reign in Nigeria but received 100 billion after negotiations.

This 100 billion Naira was more than the Ekiti State budget for that year.


Shortly after this offer was made, We have witnessed the influx of herdsmen into every nook and cranny of the country, resulting in banditry and kidnapping with innocent women and children being raped, so also innocent lives have been lost with no single arrest of the perpetrators of these heinous crimes.
