Nigeria Celebrates 55 Years Of Independence

Nigeria, the most populous country in the black world gained independence from the British Colony on October 1, 1960. The country that teethered for over 50 years in the edge of mismanagement has now found itself in the hands of a new President who is said to be “a man of impeccable integrity”. The new President Muhammadu Buhari won the election which cut across ethnic and religious lines. He beat the incumbent President whose tenure was marred by indiscipline, insecurity and corruption.
All across the country, the independence day anniversary was celebrated with funfares. Many Nigerians were draped In the country's green-white-green color and Nigerian flags were on display. Nigerians abroad had a field day celebrating too. From the City of London to New York and elsewhere, there were widespread jubilations that the country has regained its lost glory. God bless Nigeria.
