Firing Squad For 10 Naira Theft by K. Olaniran

Image
Unlike many Nigerian government officials who steal money in billions, the arms of the law caught up with a Nigerian notorious robber who met his waterloo for stealing, guess how much? 10 Naira!!! In Nigeria, those who commit picayune crime of petty thefts get harsher punishments than those who steal big. Isiaka Buhari popularly known as 'Might Joe who terrorized the neighbourhood in Mushin, Lagos State, Nigeria was arrested for stealing 10 Naira from one Mr Osayunana a hotel bar attendant in the early '70s. He was thereafter led to the bar beach where he was tied to the pole and silenced by bullets. Public officials are stealing money in billions today and no one has deemed it fit to recommend life sentence or death penalty to serve as a deterrent to other would-be killers of our economy.

Dasuki Me, God Will Dasuki You by Kola Ola Olaniran

These days, being at the right place and at the right time may not just be enough but using the right public relations stunt may seal the deal. Three beggars went to a popular street of Lagos to solicit for alms. Two of the three beggars had arrived five hours earlier with their paraphernalia of office: a small mat, a small tent and 2 small plates in their hands. They used the same plates for two purposes, to collect alms and to buy foods. When these two beggars arrived at the spot at 10.00 a.m. they spread the tent and the mat and the business of the day began. Three hours later, they barely made money that could buy them lunch as people were giving them only their chicken changes. Their method of begging was, "please bless me and God will bless you ten folds" Five hours later, the third beggar arrived at the same spot with a big basket in his hand. He had no tent to shield himself from the scorching sun nor the mat to sit on. He went straight to his two professio...

The Tyranny Of Saraki Family And The Kwarans’ Struggle For Liberation By Remi Oyeyemi “

The Tyranny Of Saraki Family And The Kwarans’ Struggle For Liberation By Remi Oyeyemi “Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”- Frederick Douglass (Jan.1818 – Feb. 1895)BY REMI OYEYEMISEP 23, 2015243942The good people of Kwara State have been yoking under the tyranny of the Saraki Family for several decades.  They have yoked for so long that it seems that suffering in subjugation has become their second nature.  Others often joke about their supposed docility and assume that this has been responsible for their inexplicable acquiescence to brutal subjugation, enslavement and endless denigration by a single family that has held them to ransom ...

Vision Or Television, What Does A Lady Choose? by Kola Ola Olaniran

Image
A woman who rejects a man with a vision and follows a man with a television will watch the man with a vision on her husband's television. Stupidity they say, is by choice. How dumb can a lady be? You drove your boyfriend to the gas station to buy gas, after paying for the gas with your own money, you went ahead to pump the gas by yourself while the boyfriend sat comfortably in the car flipping his finger on the phone texting another girlfriends.  It's more common these days to see that men who do less for ladies are the ones who have stronger grips or control over the ladies than the men who truly care and have good visions for themselves and the ladies they crave for. If in the future, things are not working properly for you, you need to reflect on the bad decisions you took in the past or the seeds you sowed in the past that cost you to reap bad crops. The bad decisions you take today will bring a precarious situation you will find yourself in the future.  You n...
