Hurricane Sowore Will Blow Away Corrupt Officials

It is often said that when you weather several storms, you become a storm yourself.
I don’t know if those corrupt officials in Nigeria believe in climate change and if they do, they must definitely have gotten the forecast that a wind of immeasurable proportion is about to blow them off and I don’t know what measure or measures they have put in place to survive the impending storm.
All across the world, we have been hearing of Hurricane Sandy, hurricanes Harvey, hurricane Katrina, hurricane Alex but when hurricane reaches the level where it is tagged ‘Hurricane Sowore’, those corrupt public officials in Nigeria don’t just start stockpiling foods at home, they need a serious evacuation. Thus when Omoyele Sowore announced that he is running for president, he sent jitters down the spines of many officials who despite calling him ‘inconsequential’ know that anything Sowore touches turns to gold.
For those who think Sowore is just a noisemaker simply because he was not born with silver spoon, neither was his parents related to any Nigerian money bag, his political ambition may not hold any water, this is the time for them to rush to their computer desks and download asylum forms of any country that may want to harbor looters.
Reeling from their analogue mindset, Nigerian elites who have been detached from millennium development reality still believe that politics without money is just tales by moonlight that preceded the video game era. We now live in a digital age where innovative ideas can rubbish money with no brain. The Nigerian youths of today are loaded with ideas that can transform the country. They are seen in different fields of endeavor and it will be to anyone’s peril to say that they are lazy.
Omoyele Sowore was in his early 30s when he conceived the idea of founding the online journal that he named Saharareporters and he has transformed it into a multi million dollar empire. This is happening at a time when corrupt officials stole so much money but are bereft of ideas on how to utilize the money to benefit the masses.
So much money of different hard currencies have been stolen and kept in sewage tanks, cemetery vaults and other unimaginable places in such an alarming rate that these thieves may soon be asked to go for DNA test to be sure they are truly human and now that snakes and monkeys are testing the limits of their enclosures to go into government offices to steal money in millions, the true identities of these corrupt officials as the offspring of apes and other animals are about to be unveiled.
In a country where integrity is in short supply, Nigeria has been wandering in the wilderness of mismanagement since 1979 and by next year 2019, it will be 40 years of wilderness experience reminiscent of Israelites’ horrific experience before they finally reached the promise land.
Hopefully this time around, Nigeria too will get its acts together to end the visionless leadership that has taken the country backward and relegated it to a ‘shithole’ standard.
Happily we have in our midst a man of impeccable integrity who has occupied different spaces and places, met with people of different regions and religions, knows those who can make our lives better and those who can make our lives bitter, he has tasted the brutal treatment of the military especially under the late Mike Akhigbe a vice admiral in the Nigerian Navy who served as de facto Vice President of Nigeria during the General Abdusalami Abubakar led military government from 1998 till the termination of military government in Nigeria, in 1999 who couldn’t stomach his brazen effrontery to question the incursion of the military in the country’s governance.
A heroic name with a vision and mission to rescue Nigeria from the jaws of the devourers, Omoyele Sowore conceived a resounding idea of Take It Back Movement that has riveted national and international attentions to challenge the status quo in Nigeria.
He is contesting for the office of the President in Nigeria and no doubt Nigerians are fully prepared to give him the mandate.
For about 30 years, he has been in the public space and it is laughable for anyone to question his experience for the office where all former occupiers had recorded dismal failures. Sowore is a little David who is set to crush the Nigerian political Goliaths in a mother of all elections that is yet to be witnessed. Like a wild fire, the Take It Back Movement with its messages has spread to every nook and cranny of Nigeria and the world and I won’t be surprised if Take It Back becomes the words to be uttered by babies who are speaking for the first time.
In a country where leaders treat their youths with disdain by their non inclusion in the affairs of the country, the Nigerian youths are massing out in a show of anger to unleash their furies to exercise the power invested in them to choose one of their own.
Everywhere in the world, it is often said that power belongs to the people but for Nigeria, it can be rightly said that power belongs to the youths as over sixty five percent of Nigeria’s eligible voters belong to this group. More so Sowore has highlighted his eight point political agenda that resonate with the expectations of these youths. These youths had wished the elections were held today for them to celebrate as president the emergence of their newly found messiah.
On the campaign field, Sowore has veered from the old crude way of muzzling people with financial inducements to get their votes. Instead of dishing out money to mortgage the people’s future, he has made it clear that this struggle is not for his own personal gains but to take back the welfare, the dignity, the pride, the rights and all that belong to the people but have been wrongly denied them. In the light of this, the Nigerian masses have been so receptive of his messages with thunderous applause. His approach of galvanizing support by raising money in a very transparent manner via the Gofundme is appreciably in good progress. So far he has raised over $44,000 in a $2 million goal target.
A media entrepreneur and University lecturer in the US, Sowore understands the dynamics of power play in the Nigerian government circle. His information gathering and dissemination surpass those with the State apparatus but have no inkling on how to put them to use them.
Sowore has been far and near to spread the messages of Take It Back and his arrival back to the country was heralded by the shout of ‘Sai Bobo’ an accolade that has been stripped from President Buhari in the form of ‘Sai Baba’ and now transferred to Sowore. His Town Hall meeting in Oyo was a huge success. The low and the mighty were falling over one another to have a glimpse of this young and vibrant political aspirant.
Hopefully with Sowore as President, by this time next year, Nigerians of all walks of life can proudly rejoice, congratulate one another and say, WELCOME TO A NEW DAWN.
